September 2010: This review was written by GF Lady, the previous owner of GlutenFreeAlbuquerque.com and is used here with her permission.

Weck’s serves up meals in what they call the “full belly” tradition and even those of us eating gluten free will leave with the promised full belly. Weck’s is open for breakfast and lunch and serves both meals all day. I am certain that everything on their menu is delicious but I’ve never ordered anything from the lunch menu. I love breakfast and I love bacon and Weck’s offers the very best of both.

Pictured here is a bacon and cheese omelette topped with green chile and accompanied by sliced tomatoes. The green chile is simply green chile and not their excellent green chile sauce, which unfortunately contains gluten. This meal was so good that even though there was way too much food for me, I finished it.

At Weck’s, all omlettes are cooked in separate omlette pans and bacon is baked in the oven so by design neither item comes in contact with gluten. Your server carries a list of several gluten-free options and all the servers I’ve spoken with have been well versed in the precautions that are taken to prevent cross contamination. You can definitely eat well at Weck’s and have confidence that the meal you order will be gluten free.
