Florentine Pizza
I have been on a quest to find great tasting gluten-free pizza
since the moment I removed gluten from my life. A manager at
a local restaurant who also eats gluten free told me that he
was a big fan of the gluten-free pizza at Boston's. It didn't
take me long to find an occasion to give Boston's a try.
As always, I called the restaurant right before I planned to eat
there. I spoke with a manager who detailed their process for
preventing cross contamination. Boston's makes gluten-free
pizzas in their own area. The crusts are purchased from a
vendor. The toppings and pizza sauce for the gluten-free pizzas
are kept in containers separate from the toppings for
wheat-based pizzas. When a gluten-free pizza is ordered, the
person making it changes their gloves in order to prevent cross
contamination. By the time our conversation was finished, I
was certain that I would get a completely gluten-free pizza.
I was surprised by the large selection of pizzas from which I
could choose. Every pizza on the menu can be made gluten
free. The gluten-free pizzas are available in the small size only,
but this is just as big as a medium at most other places I've
been. I chose the Florentine Pizza, and it was so good. The
thin, crispy crust was topped with pizza sauce, artichokes, fresh
spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, fresh basil and two
types of cheese. One bite brought back memories of brick oven
pizzas from my past!
Boston's is a restaurant that will please everyone who
accompanies you on your pizza adventure. Those not eating
gluten-free have an extensive variety of meals to choose from
and are not limited to pizza. The service was excellent. There is
a large patio and on one of our many beautiful Albuquerque
days, you could easily while away an afternoon.
