Le Peep was my favorite place for breakfast before I discovered
the benefits of a gluten-free diet. And, I am pleased to say
that Le Peep is still my favorite place to go for breakfast.
At Le Peep, each omelet is made in its own pan. I am an egg
lover, and most often I order the Spanish omelet and switch off
occasionally with a cheese omelet. I order my omelet with fresh
fruit instead of the potatoes. Of course, I also request that no
toast or tortillas are placed on my plate.
My guess is that every omelet on the menu can be made in
gluten-free form by omitting things such as Hollandaise sauce.
The servers are excellent and most willing to have your meal
made exactly as you want it. But, you do need to tell your
server that you need the meal to be gluten-free and what has
to be done to avoid cross contaminating your order.
Le Peep is open for breakfast and lunch and is located just
south of Coronado Mall. It's a great place to meet a couple
friends or hold a meeting for a large group.
Update (Nov., 2010) - As of this month, Le Peep is serving
the gluten-free Belgian Waffle pictured here. I have been
to Le Peep once each week since I learned about the
waffles and I've ordered several variations including pecan
and blueberry. Each waffle has been absolutely delicious,
and I plan on stopping at Le Peep for a waffle every time
I'm in the area. The waffles are made from a pre-packaged
mix and are cooked on a waffle iron reserved just for
gluten-free waffles. Everyone on the staff is now well
educated about the cross contamination requirements for
their gluten-free customers. What a fantastic addition to
an already great menu!
