July 2015, from reader Linda: We have always enjoyed the Indian buffet at Namaste in Rio Rancho (their Friday menu is our favorite). So yesterday, when we arrived, I spoke with the owner about her menu. I was THRILLED beyond measure to learn that nearly everything on her buffet is gluten-free (probably because she herself has gluten intolerance). She told me that the only things to avoid on her buffet menu were noodle dishes, samosas (because of the pastry), the spiced meatballs, and the naan flatbread (which she said, “Just ask for crackers instead of the naan” and they will bring lentil-based pappadum crackers to accompany the meal). She even noted that all of the dessert dishes are gluten-free as well. But if you are ever in doubt when you arrive (as the menu changes daily), just ask the server. My favorites are the saag paneer and the chicken tikka masala. Yummy!
