Costco

GroceryStoreClipArt1You will be eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats and seafood when following a gluten-free diet. These healthy foods are not only much less expensive at Costco, but most everything is packaged in portions large enough to satisfy your whole family. Furthermore, the quality of products at Costco is exceptional.

Surprisingly, Costco is also a good place for a number of gluten-free products and their inventory of items labeled gluten free seems to be increasing. In addition to fresh and frozen foods that I routinely purchase, the following gluten-free items are consistently on the shelf at the warehouse location I frequent:

Bob’s Red Mill GF All Purpose Baking Flour
Mission Tortilla Chips
Bora Bora Bars
Pacific Chicken Broth
Crunchmaster Rice and Multigrain crackers
Riceworks Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps
Kirkland Pure Vanilla
Rotisserie Chickens

GroceryStoreClipArt2You read that last item correctly. The delicious, fully cooked Rotisserie Chickens at Costco are gluten free. A convenience item that’s reasonably priced and gluten free – does it get any better than that?

Update: In March, 2011, the Costco on Eubank Blvd. started carrying Rudy’s Gluten-Free Multigrain Bread in the freezer section. Unfortunately, by September Rudy’s was not longer in Costco’s inventory. If you are a fan of Rudy’s bread, please let customer service know that you would like them to stock it again.
