August 2016, from member Brianna:
I have become a very cautious diner, so when my extended family planned to eat out at Bravo Cucina Italiana I called ahead to make sure that I could dine safely. Chef Britain talked to me on the phone and answered my long list of questions about how they prep their food, and assured me of their care when handling allergy tickets. I am happy to report that not only was my meal delicious (I ordered the gluten free carbonara with peas and bacon topped with a sunny side up egg) but I didn’t get any symptoms, which rarely happens when I eat out. Chef Britain even came out and asked me how my meal was, even though it was a busy Saturday night. As always, be sure that you ask questions and never assume anything, but my visit to Bravo exceeded my expectations!

Pasta with pesto sauce

Pasta with pesto sauce

Bravo! Italian Restaurant, located in ABQ Uptown, makes, on request, some of its pasta entrees using gluten-free pasta. Pasta with homemade pesto sauce is the dish pictured here, and it is excellent. Mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes are tossed with penne pasta and covered with a creamy pesto sauce. Please make sure that your server knows to omit the pesto bread crumbs that normally make up the topping for this meal. Gluten-free pasta is not always available at Bravo! However, several of their salads can be made to your specifications. If you really want pasta, it would be a good idea to call ahead of your visit to see if it’s available. It’s worth the effort!

Grilled Salmon Salad

Grilled Salmon Salad

I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad pictured here. This very generous salad is topped with asparagus and a perfectly grilled piece of salmon. Please ask your server leave off the shoestring potatoes that are normally part of the salad as they are fried and not gluten free. Once again, Bravo! proved a great place for this gluten-free customer.
