April 2011: This review was written by GF Lady, the previous owner of GlutenFree Albuquerque.com and is used here with her permission.

Chez Bob, tucked away just behind and the West side of the Smith’s at Wyoming and Paseo del Norte, is a fantastic, cozy restaurant that serves French and Italian food. I have had both lunch and dinner at Chez Bob and the food along with the service is excellent.

The restaurant staff suggests that gluten-free diners call and let them know that a gluten-free meal is required when they make their reservation. When I called prior to my visit, I spoke with one of the sous chefs. He detailed several items that were or could be made gluten-free on the night I was planning to eat there. He described their procedures to prevent cross contamination and told me to let my server know I had spoken with him. On the day of my planned dinner at Chez Bob, this same chef called me to let me know that one of the meals he had described would not be available because cross contamination could not be prevented. I was so impressed that he took the time to call and give me this update.

Salmon in Lemon Sauce

Salmon in Lemon Sauce

The salmon meal I ordered is pictured here. The salmon was placed on top of a delicious, creamy lemon sauce and cooked to perfection as were the mashed potatoes and the asparagus. I couldn’t resist the Crème Brule for dessert and I finished it long before I remembered that I wanted to take a picture of it.

Chez Bob is a great restaurant to go to on a date night or with a group of friends who want to enjoy conversation. This is a special place!
